J. Regan Thomas
Dr. Thomas, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, is one of the most innovative, peer-acclaimed experts in the field.
He completed an Otolaryngology residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, a surgical residency at Yale University, and a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Northwestern University. He teaches Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to UIC medical students, residents, and fellowship physicians.
With more than 25 years of expertise, he is involved in the development of the latest techniques and procedures in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Acclaimed for his practice, research, and leadership, he frequently publishes in the most prestigious medical journals and textbooks. He has authored more than 200 scientific papers and publications, including six textbooks.
Heralded by colleagues, Dr. Thomas has previously served as president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. No other individual has ever led all three prestigious organizations. Dr. Thomas' specialties include rhinoplasty (cosmetic surgery of the nose), blepharoplasty (cosmetic surgery of the eyelids), facelift (the Thomas Safety Facelift Procedure), and multiple other cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures of the face, head and neck. Dr. Thomas' expertise also includes the treatment of wrinkles and the aging face with injectable solutions like BOTOX, Restylane.
Patricia A. Golden, Practice Director
Patricia A. Golden joined The Facial Plastic Surgery Center in 2004 as the Assistant Director of Physician Practice. With more than 35 years as a registered nurse (RN) and a certification in Plastic Surgery Nursing (CPSN), she brings a high level of nursing expertise.
Patricia believes that plastic surgery nurses function in an increasingly challenging healthcare environment and are necessarily assuming more responsibility and expanded roles within the practice. She is an active member of the OFPSA (Organization of Facial Plastic Surgery Assistants) and is the organization's educational coordinator. She was nominated for the 2008 Excellence in Nursing award at the University of Illinois and was honored as the 2009 employee of the year within the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
Patricia is also a director of the Now Hear This! Fund, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance the quality of life and provide treatment for people experiencing hearing loss.
