In consultation with you, Dr. Thomas will predetermine an injection site best suited to your treatment goals. He will ask you to squint, smile, frown, and elevate your eyebrows to determine which areas to focus BOTOX® treatment to restore a youthful, rested look. Because you will feel a tiny sting with each injection, you may elect to have him apply a topical anesthetic prior to injection. Dr. Thomas will then inject BOTOX® directly to the muscles.
This ten-minute procedure will require no downtime, so you can return to work and resume normal activity immediately after treatment. You might experience a mild headache. You probably will not experience bruising or swelling. If you do, keep the injection area cool to reduce swelling.
Following treatment, you must avoid massaging or rubbing your face. It is especially important that you avoid the areas where BOTOX® was injected.
It can take several days for you to notice the change in your appearance, but the results can last several months. BOTOX® can paralyze your facial muscles only for so long; once muscle function returns, the wrinkles will come back, too. That's why it's important to have subsequent treatments to maintain your desired appearance.
